Cookie policy

Last updated: March 1, 2026

What are cookies?

Cookies and similar technologies, such as local browser storage, allow information to be stored or retrieved on your device. Some are strictly necessary for the site to work correctly, while others are only lawful if they are activated after your prior consent.

How the banner works

When you first visit the site, Impostorplay shows a banner with three equivalent options: accept only necessary cookies, accept all optional categories or customize your selection. Until you accept an optional category, Google Tag Manager and the tags associated with analytics or advertising remain blocked.

You can change your choice at any time from the “Cookie preferences” button available in the footer.

Categories currently used

  • Necessary cookies: they keep the session active, protect forms with CSRF tokens, remember the selected language, preserve trusted-device settings for two-factor authentication and may keep the account signed in if you explicitly choose “remember me”.
  • Measurement and analytics: if you consent, Google Tag Manager may load Google Analytics tags or other measurement tags allowed by your configuration. Typical cookies in this category include `_ga`, `_ga_*` and `_gid`.
  • Advertising and conversion: if you consent, Google Tag Manager may load advertising tags from Google or compatible services for conversion measurement, frequency capping or campaign optimization. Typical cookies in this category include `_gcl_au`, `_gcl_aw` and, where applicable, `IDE`.
  • Local browser storage: some puzzle modes may store temporary progress or elapsed time directly on your device so you can resume the activity without sending every change to the server.
  • site_locale: stores the language you chose so the site can reopen in Spanish or English on future visits.
  • remember_web_*: may be created if you explicitly tick the “remember me” option when logging in.
  • impostorplay_trusted_device: is only created if you enable two-factor authentication and ask the service to remember the current device for future logins.

Third parties linked to optional cookies

If you accept analytics or advertising categories, Google Tag Manager may connect the browser to Google services associated with the tags configured in the container. Those services may have their own cookie and privacy policies, and Impostorplay will only enable them after your consent.

How to manage them

You can choose the optional categories from the initial banner, reopen your preferences from the footer, or delete cookies manually from your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent login, language persistence, secure use of forms or the ability to keep your game progress.

Future changes

If we add new optional providers, new measurement tags or new advertising technologies, we will update this policy and, when required, request your consent again before enabling them.
